Family, Friends & Visitors Emergency DepartmentServices

Upstate Carolina Medical Center’s Emergency Department believes in family center care.  We want for your friends and family to have the ability to see you while you are in our department.  However, please realize that the emergency department is a very busy and critical department, so we request that you do abide by our visitors policy.

Two visitors will be allowed to be with each patient at a time.  Other visitors are welcome to wait in the waiting room and visit when another visitor comes out of the room.  All visitors will be asked to wear identification that will be provided to you by either the customer service representative or the triage nurse.  This is for the security of our patients and staff.  You will also be escorted to your family member or friend’s treatment room.  We ask that you please stay in the treatment room and do not “wander” in the department.  This is for the privacy and security of our patients and staff.

Visitors will be asked to wait in the waiting room until the patient has been assessed by the physician.  This is to ensure patient privacy and so that all ordered tests and treatments can be initiated in a timely fashion.

Please note that at any time visitors may be asked to wait in the waiting room.  This could be during a treatment or examination of the patient.

If you have any questions about the visitation policy, please feel free to ask the customer service representative or the triage nurse.
